Our Practice

Matthew Haas was born in Chicago, IL, grew up in Baltimore, MD, and graduated from high school in Los Angeles, CA. 

        Matthew attended the University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em Horns), where he graduated and received his Bachelor's degree (B.A.) with a double-major in Government and History and a minor in Spanish. Matthew then headed down to New Orleans, LA, where he graduated and received his Juris Doctorate degree (J.D.) from Tulane University Law School (Roll Wave). 

        While a third-year law student at Tulane, Matthew began practicing criminal defense as a Certified Student-Attorney for the Tulane Criminal Justice Clinic handling a variety of pretrial, appellate, parole, and clemency cases. 

       After law school, Matthew moved to San Francisco, CA, passed the California Bar Exam, and completed a Post-Bar Clerkship at the San Francisco Public Defender's Office. Matthew then worked in private criminal defense as an Associate Criminal Defense Attorney for Morales Law Firm, where he handled a multitude of State (both misdemeanor and felony) and Federal criminal cases in San Francisco, Marin, Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Mateo Counties, as well as in the United States District Court for the Northern District of CA. 

       In June of 2021, Matthew moved back to Texas, and while waiting on his Texas Bar Exam results, worked as an Associate Criminal Defense Attorney for Barrett Bright Lassiter Linder, LLP, in Dallas, TX handling Federal criminal cases in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of TX. 

     Shortly after passing the Texas Bar Exam, Matthew began working as an Assistant Public Defender for the Dallas County Public Defender's Office, handling hundreds of misdemeanor criminal cases of all types. 

     Finally, in September of 2022, Matthew opened his own practice, Haas Law Firm, PLLC, where he continues to handle criminal cases, both State and Federal, across the DFW area.
